Curry County commissioners approved a bid for $350,000 to build a health clinic in Melrose during a Monday special meeting.
Nick Griego and Sons Construction of Clovis was awarded the bid.
The company agreed to construct the clinic by Jan. 15 so the county can pursue a $500,000 state grant.
In order to qualify for the grant, the building must be completed and have a certificate of occupancy by Jan. 31, Curry County Attorney Stephen Doerr told commissioners.
According to the contract between the company and county, Nick Griego and Sons Construction would be charged $200 per day each day the project exceeds the deadline.
